Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp (deveined)
  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 cup green onions (chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add salt. Slowly whisk in the stone-ground grits. Reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  2. While the grits are cooking, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about one minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet and cook for about three minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir heavy cream and remaining butter into the cooked grits until well combined.
  5. Spoon grits into bowls, top with sautéed shrimp, drizzle with pan juices, garnish with green onions, and serve warm.
