Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, spices, and brown sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs and mix with vegetable oil and pumpkin puree until well combined. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  6. For frosting, beat cream cheese until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and salted caramel sauce until creamy.
  7. Assemble by layering the cakes with frosting in between and covering the top and sides of the cake with remaining frosting.
