  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely diced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs or panko
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Whole-grain burger buns for serving
  • Toppings: avocado slices, tomato slices, lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, red onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño (if using), breadcrumbs, cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the beaten egg and mix gently until just combined.
  3. Shape into four equal patties.
  4. Preheat a grill over medium heat and lightly oil it.
  5. Cook patties for about 5-6 minutes per side until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
